Switchfoot Band
The songs from The Beautiful Letdown album sound melodious and lovely. Established in 1996 “Switchfoot” was founded by the name CHIP UP.The band consists of virtuoso vocalist et guitarist (Jon Forman) and his brother Tim Forman along with Chad Butler, Jerome Fontamillas and Drew Shirley. Their music is a vibe of brass guitars, drums, percussion and keyboards.
Switchfoot music started gaining popularity after their switch from the earlier lo-fi , indie rock to the much soothing layered, synth influenced music. It has a unique blend of Alternative Rock, Power Pop and Post-Grunge.
One reason why I adore this band is its innumerable support and involvement in the humanitarian causes such as the ONE campaign, the keep a breast foundation and charity shows such as habitat for humanity and invisible children. Also, they founded the Switchfoot Bro-Am Surf Contest. It was a contest to raise money for the upbringing of the homeless kids in their hometown San Diego. The band supported and befriended the children from the villages of South Africa. The band also produced the CD by the ‘kuyasa kids’, a children’s choir in Africa.
Switchfoot is often referred to as a Christian band as they distribute their numbers in the Christian markets as well as the play for Christian festivals. The band touched the heights of popularity after the release of the song “only hope”which was also featured in the movie “The Walk to Remember”. This was the song sung by the Actress Mandy Moore during a scene in the movie.
Though all the songs by Switchfoot thrill our soul, I give my votes to “dare you to move” for its upbeat music. The band is having various indoor and outdoor performances in the United States this November.
