The 37th Annual American Music Awards was held on Sunday, the 22^nd of November at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

The Winners were decided by the online votes cast at ama.abc.com, amavote.com and mycokerewards.com.

The evening was studded with stars. Shakira performed ‘Give It Up To Me’ as part step show and the other half aerial exhibition. Janet Jackson brought the house down with a medley of “Control” into “What Have You Done For Me Lately” into “Miss You Much” into “If.”  There were many more performances including Rihanna’s ‘Wait Your Turn’, J Lo’s new single ‘Louboutins’, Nelly Furtado, Whitney Houston and Green Day.

Jordin Sparks is a 19-year old Popstar from United States. She writes as well as sings her songs. Her music is a distinct sound from many of her other competing artists in the pop genre. Soulful lyrics are a good aspect of her songs. I  have always appreciated Enrique for his lyrics (but he gets them written), Sparks composes her own songs. Sparks’ sophomore music album Battlefield was released in July 2009 worldwide and has released two singles from the album. Talented young artist Jordin Sparks has received her first Grammy nomination in 2009.

Jordin Sparks is the winner of the sixth season of American Idol (2007 winner). She remains the youngest winner in American Idol history. While at the show she was able to build a loyal fan support who were called the ‘Sparkplugs’. They even have an official fan site on her name.

If you ever suspected her audience reach, then think again. Jordin has performed for two President’s of the United States. In 2008, she sang the U.S. National Anthem during the welcome for President Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush to the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence in Accra, Ghana. George W. Bush personally appreciated her music after the performance.

Jordin has also performed at the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. (Jan. 20, 2009). The ball was hosted by President Barack Obama. It honored America’s service members, families of the fallen, and wounded warriors. This was perhaps one of the most prestigious moments that would come in her career. For a young singer who is hardly 19-years, Jordin has come a long way in her music career and will most surely go on to become an elite singer in the industry.
